Ammonium sulphate is one of the most popular fertilizers in agriculture, used for those plants, which demand nitrogen and sulfur. This fertilizer is attributed to the physiologically acidulous fertilizers, meant for the fertilization of alkaline and neutral soil. These fertilizers have large quantity of sulfur.
When fertilizing with ammonium sulphate, the soil becomes more acid like, while alkaline soil has only slight acidity. In the fertilizer, the nitrogen is in a form of ammonium nitrogen – the plants slowly absorb such nitrogen form. The sulfur inside the fertilizers is necessary for all of the plants, because it is in the composition of amino acids, which the plants synthesize. It is recommended to coordinate the fertilization of winter wheats in the Spring with other fertilizer having nitrate nitrogen (NO3), which the plants quickly absorb.
